One of my favorite professors… April 22, 2009

As my college career is coming to an end, I would like to thank all the professors in the school of Journalism and Broadcasting. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for everything that they have done for me as a student and as a person.
In particular, I have to thank Gina Noble. I am taking her Advanced PR class right now and I love it! Each class I learn about a new Apple Mac computer program. Not only do I enjoy becoming more computer savvy, but I also get to add these newly acquired skills to my resume. I encourage all students to take this class, because with this economy right now, being proficient in Adobe Indesign and Photoshop might be the difference between getting the job or not.
This class is so wonderful because Gina takes her time with each student to make sure they understand the lesson of the day. Each assignment and project can be added to our portfolio to show potential employers, so not only are we learning things but we get to show it off to people too. Last week, Gina scheduled a speaker from OSU Career Services to come and talk to us about resumes. I would say half the class has already made appointments with the speaker to work on our resumes in further detail.
I also love Gina’s willingness to listen to students. She will be the first to admit that she does not know everything and if a student knows something about a particular program, they need to raise their hand and share the information with her and the rest of the class. Some professors like to talk the whole class time just to hear themselves talk. Or they like to pretend that they know everything and their students are brainless and could not possibly teach them anything they do not already know.
Even though my class is at 10:30 am, I still look forward to the class every time. It is nice to learn information that is imperative to know right now for PR people. But more importantly, is it nice to know that this professor cares about us and is willing to help us both in and out of the classroom.
